In the future, I would like to run my own business and become an entrepreneur. Attending NAU for business is the first major step toward that goal. I want to build something of my own that reflects the same values I was raised with, integrity, discipline, and service to others. I consider myself a very hard-working student, employee, and son. I work my hardest in whatever situation I am put in and always try to give 100 percent effort.

Over the past year, I have been preparing for a future career in nursing by completing my prerequisite courses and gaining experience that has strengthened my passion for helping others. Being able to assist patients and support healthcare staff helped me realize that nursing is the career path I want to pursue. Helping and caring for others has always come naturally to me, and I find a great sense of joy in making people feel more comfortable, supported, and cared for.

I plan to become a labor and delivery nurse. I became interested in this career when my baby brother was introduced to our family. I was old enough to understand and visit my mom at the hospital. I observed one of the nurses care for my mom and also care for my brother. This moment inspired me to pursue this career.

I plan to reach my goal of becoming a registered nurse after completing my BSN at Florida College. I think I am adequate to receive this scholarship so I can further my education in this field of work so that I may one day use my knowledge to save the lives of people. To succeed, I have pushed myself to my limits and further than I imagined.

I grew up playing soccer and running track at a high level, and ever since attending college in Montana, I am constantly trail running, backpacking, rafting, and skiing! This has led me to pursue a degree in Exercise Science (Kinesiology) because this degree is so broad and was the best fit based on my interests. I am going to have multiple options on my career path and after graduating some of these include; being a Physician's Assistant, Paramedic, or Nutrition Specialist.

My long-term goal is to become a nurse anesthetist. This career requires extensive education and dedication, but it offers the opportunity to play a critical role in patient care during surgeries and other medical procedures. I am drawn to the responsibility, skill, and precision required in that role. Achieving this goal will require years of education and hard work, and I am committed to putting in the effort necessary to succeed.

My goal is to go directly to medical school or get my master’s in Biochemistry with a concentration in Medicinal Chemistry. Medical school will help me become a care provider directly, while getting my master’s in Biochemistry will allow me to solidify the knowledge needed to go into pharmacy or medicinal research. Working in healthcare has always been a dream of mine.

My academic goals are to earn my associates in applied sciences, complete as many prerequisite classes at NPC as possible, and keep my grades and GPA (currently at 3.24) as high as I can to increase my chances of getting into the nursing program at NPC. After I get my RN through NPC I will continue my education at NAU to get my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.

I am currently getting an associate's degree in Professional Pilot Technology at Cochise College. At Cochise College I plan to continue building the knowledge and experience necessary to become a professional pilot. Through my training I have learned the importance of preparation, responsibility, and sound decision-making, which are very important to becoming a safety-minded aviator.

I have always been captivated by how people process emotions, experiences, and adversity. Simultaneously, art has been a profoundly important outlet in my own life. With my lived experience, I firmly believe in the power of art therapy as a tool for healing. Art therapy can provide children and teenagers, especially those who have faced trauma, a safe space to express themselves, process their experiences, and start to regain a sense of control and confidence.

My goal is to specialize in power systems so that I can contribute to building and maintaining electrical systems that communities depend on. I want to work in a field where the work I do helps support critical infrastructure and improves the reliability of the systems people rely on every day.

I understand that success requires focus, discipline, and perseverance. Finishing cosmetology school is not just a personal goal that I will achieve, but a reflection of the values I was raised with. I want to build a career that represents hard work, consistency, and pride in my work, while growing and becoming more independent.

I am setting my goals high, I want to be the director of parks and recreation for a city in Arizona. Public parks and recreation have played a major part in my life ever since I was old enough to ride a bike. The local parks were my recreation destination where I could be alone or with others and still enjoy myself. Caring for and painting my local parks as a parks maintenance worker over the last two years has really developed my love and understanding of what it takes to keep these parks accessible to the public.

The Marine Corps ROTC program at VMI has challenged me both mentally and physically to be a better teammate, student, friend, athlete, and leader. Leadership development is a key focus of my education at the Virginia Military Institute. I earned the title of Company Corporal which meant that I was trusted enough to train and instruct the incoming freshman class at VMI on how to think, function, and carry themselves as a disciplined VMI Cadet.

Although I currently continue my work in healthcare as a medical assistant, my long-term goal is to combine my nursing education with my background in esthetics in a meaningful way. I am particularly interested in working with patients who have experienced physical trauma or medical treatments that affect their appearance and confidence.

The answer for a long time to the question all kids get asked “what do you want to be when you grow up?” was always a veterinarian. Some time around middle school I switched my answer to that question from veterinarian to doctor. I loved animals and I wanted to use my abilities and brain to help them. But as the years went on I realized that I could devote my life to helping and saving people instead.

In recent years after studying and researching new careers, a line of work that called me was one of an attorney. This field seemed interesting to me, the concept of litigation and learning the laws that keep our country running. I want to learn about the sides of the justice system that I have not yet been introduced to.

My goal is to serve Arizona’s agricultural and equestrian communities as a large animal veterinarian. Large animal medicine combines science, physical skill, ethical judgment, and service to families whose livelihoods often depend on the health of their animals. I plan to attend a four-year university, major in a science-related field, and continue on to veterinary school.

I am currently pursuing a degree in General Business Studies at Central Connecticut State while playing Division I football. Balancing athletics and academics has taught me how to manage pressure, stay consistent, and lead by example. During my time at Morehead State, I was named team captain, which showed me that leadership is not always about what you say, but about how you work and how you carry yourself every day.

Pursuing research as a career will allow me to make greater changes to more people’s lives, and while I may never meet the people I’ve helped, I know that the work I do will help someone out there. This is what makes me want to pursue medical research; I’d be given the ability to save people’s lives, making the work and effort worthwhile to me.
