SUMMARY:2018 Southwest Police Motorcycle Training and Competition
DESCRIPTION:The Southwest Police Motorcycle Training and Competition is a threefold event that consists of motorcycle training\, skills competition\, and community engagement through support of Special Olympics. In 1997 SPMTC started with approximately 35 participants from about 7 police agencies. Since then\, this event has grown to have 130 motor officers competing from 25 different agencies and the location rotates between Phoenix\, Tucson\, and Las Vegas. In addition to participants\, many vendors and spectators come together to enjoy the event and support participating law enforcement. To learn how to get involved\, visit https://www.phoenix.gov/police/SPMTC  \nThis event is open to the public to come and see us compete!\nDownload the flyer here…   and see the schedule of events here… \nIf you are an officer wanting to compete and attend the training please see additional info below: \nThe Phoenix Police Department Traffic Bureau and Valley Law Enforcement Agencies is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the 22nd Annual Southwest Police Motorcycle Training and Competition. SPMTC 2018 is scheduled for April 13 and 14\, 2018. This dynamic training and friendly competition is open to all currently certified motorcycle officers. The host hotel for this year’s event will be the Sheraton Crescent Hotel located at 2620 West Dunlap Avenue in Phoenix. The Sheraton Crescent has provided our guests with the discounted room rate of $130 per night (including full hot buffet breakfast) or $119 per night (excluding breakfast)\, plus tax. There is a March 11\, 2018 deadline for hotel reservations to receive this discount. Click on the hotel information link below for reservation information. \nThe Southwest Police Motorcycle Training and Competition is an excellent opportunity to provide motorcycle officers with the most current training techniques. This two day event includes a skills course with a variety of exercises\, two man pair riding\, four man team riding\, as well as a slow ride competition. Each of these exercises is designed to enhance the ability of the modern day Motorcycle Officer. \nSPMTC 2018 will be open to the first 130 officers on a first come\, first serve basis. The entry fee is $75 per rider\, which includes two days of training\, a 22nd anniversary SPMTC shirt\, one ticket to the awards banquet on Saturday night and a gift bag. Past events have drawn motor officers from across the U.S.\, Canada and Mexico\, so get your application in early. \nAs always\, proceeds raised from SPMTC go to the athletes of Special Olympics Arizona through the Law Enforcement Torch Run. This is an excellent opportunity for all of us to give back to the community we serve. Without our help these Special Olympians would not have the opportunity to participate in organized sports. As in past events\, the awards banquet will feature a silent auction to assist with this worthy cause\, so bring your checkbooks. Additional tickets to the awards banquet may be purchased for $35.00 each\, but those tickets are limited. \nThank you for supporting SPMTC 2018 and we hope to see you in April! \nTo participate\, please click on the links below to fill out the attached Entry / Bio form and Waiver form\, and send them\, along with your payment\, to: \nOfficer Anthony Konesky\, Chairman\nPhoenix Police Department\n302 E.
