VIDEO: Pepsi Ad Pulled After Howls from Anti-Police Activists
Pepsi has pulled a controversial new ad featuring Kendall JennerĀ after howls of rage from anti-police activists. In the ad Jenner makes a kind gesture to an officer working a protest by offering him a Pepsi.
In a statement toĀ The Associated PressĀ Wednesday, the company said: “Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologize.”
The commercial shows Jenner ditching a modeling gig asĀ protestersĀ march outside. Armed with a can of Pepsi, sheĀ joins the marchers, and hands a police officer the soda in a gesture of goodwill, bringing the demonstration to a peaceful end, Inside Edition reports.
Blue Lives Matter cataloged some of the more hateful anti-police tweets triggered by the ad.
“I went over hundreds of these tweets andĀ it appears that the prevailing attitude was that law enforcement officers are part of an occupying army andĀ Kendall is aiding the enemy,” wrote Randy Sutton.
In one of the hateful tweets collected by Blue Lives Matter someone said the ad would be better if it showed Jenner pouring the Pepsi on a dead officer.
