A 24-year veteran officer in the Austin Police Department died Friday after spending the last two weeks battling severe burns sustained in an off-duty accident at his home.
The department made Sgt. Gary Christenberry’s death public in a tweet sent by a top police official.
Christenberry was badly injured in an accident at his home on Sept. 12, which left him with burns over nearly a third of his body, the Austin American Statesman reports.
