SAN DIEGO — A San Diego SWAT team surrounded a Sunset Cliffs home early Friday morning where two men were barricaded inside a home and at least one reportedly fired several shots toward police, a sergeant said.
Both men were in custody as of 2 a.m.
The situation began sometime after midnight on Devonshire Drive between Guizot and Hill streets, San Diego police Sgt. Michael Tansey said. Police did not say what prompted the standoff but said several shots were fired by at least one person in the home.
It wasn’t immediately clear if police had returned fire.
Officers at the scene reported several volleys of gunshots, including bullets that reportedly went over an officer’s head, and a woman who’d been inside the home told officers there were two men inside, possibly drunk, according to police radio traffic.
She said there were several firearms in the home, including rifles, handguns and shotguns.
One of the men surrendered and was taken into custody around 1:30 a.m., according to police radio traffic. The other man surrendered a few minutes before 2 a.m.
