UPDATE: 11/16/18, 5:15 p.m.- The deceased driver of the flatbed truck has now been identified as Joshua Robert Garcia, 21 of El Mirage.
At 4:32 a.m., troopers responded to a rollover crash on eastbound US-60 at Higley. Preliminary information is a flatbed truck traveling eastbound in the far right lane crossed over the white line, striking an abandoned car parked on the shoulder of the freeway. The crash caused the flatbed truck to roll, ejecting the 21-year-old male driver.
Shortly after, two people in a white Ford Ranger stopped to see what happened and render aid. As they were checking the scene and the driver who had been ejected, another vehicle traveled into the scene, running over the ejected driver and striking the white Ford Ranger. That vehicle then fled the scene.
The driver ejected from the rolled flatbed truck has now been declared deceased. The two people that stopped were uninjured and are working with investigators.
Detectives from the department’s Vehicular Crimes Unit have taken the primary lead of the investigation.
Detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating the run vehicle. It is believed to be a black or dark blue, 2001-2006 model year Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon. The vehicle will have damage to the right side and undercarriage. We urge the public to submit thier tips with any information to
