Federal and tribal officials are investigating the fatal shooting of an Oglala Sioux police officer that occurred on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota Saturday.
The FBI said in a news release that Brian Gerard Garrett of Kyle was killed about 4:30 a.m., Feb. 10, during a domestic dispute. The FBI has not released any other information yet, the Associated Press and Capital Journal reported.
KOTA-TV in Rapid City reported Monday that tribal officials said Garrett, 52, is a 10-year veteran of the force who was not on duty at the time of the shooting and that his wife is in custody.
