TUCSON, Ariz. ā An Arizona officer was fatally shot while responding to an armed carjacking call.
KVOA reports that Nogales PD Officer Jesus Cordova, 44, responded to an armed carjacking call on Friday afternoon. The officer located the suspect in a vehicle fleeing from the scene and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
The suspect exited the vehicle and fired at Cordova, police said. The officer was taken to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, according to Nogales International.
Police said the suspect carjacked another vehicle and fled the scene and later carjacked a third vehicle.
Authorities eventually tracked down the suspect in a trailer park and took him into custody. No other details were immediately released.
On 4/27/18, at approximately 14:41 hrs, NPD officers responded to the area of 2900th Block of N. Grand Ave, regarding an armed carjacking incident. Suspect was shot at the officer and was later taken into custody. Ofc. Jesus Cordova succumbed to his injuries. We for ask prayers
