ASHTABULA, Ohio — A trooper assigned to the State Highway Patrol’s post in Ashtabula has died from complications of childbirth.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol Retirees’ Association announced the death of Alison Holmgren, 38, on its website.
The website says Holmgren died on Feb. 15 after giving birth to her second child. The child, a girl, is in good health, according to the website.
Funeral arrangements for Holmgren are still pending.
Data from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that about 700 women in the U.S. die each year because of complications during childbirth.
