An off-duty NYPD officer on his way to work shot a man who reportedly attempted to rob him, according to the New York Post.

The officer was walking to a train station at around 0500 hours “when the man approached and allegedly pretended to have a gun in his pocket while he attempted to rob him,” police sources told The Post.

The 21-year-old suspect was taken in police custody to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to reports.
