Last month, in a video address to employees, Director Milstead spoke of the possibility of conducting a survey of sworn personnel on two issues: using the “trooper” name in place of “officer” and, having the center of the badge copper colored, similar to the Centennial badge from 2012. AHPA worked with FOP on the language of the survey, which was conducted from March 17 through March 31.
A total of 904 personnel responded to the survey, which equaled an 81% return. The following are the results:
AHPA will continue discussions with Director Milstead to determine if any changes will be coming, and if so, what implementation strategies may be used. As always, member input is welcome.
