As all of you may know by now, Director Halliday formed a Morale Survey Committee to address employee quality of life and morale concerns. The Committee was chaired and facilitated by Marcus Aurelious and met first on August 4, 2011. The Committee included six DPS employees of which two were AHPA Representatives selected by the AHPA Board of Directors.
On September 8, 2011, the Committee provided a report which included recommendations designed to provide Director Halliday with changes at DPS to improve employee quality of life and morale. On September 19, 2011 Director Halliday and Deputy Director Young met with the Committee and its Chairman to exchange feedback on the recommendations. Director Halliday agreed there were changes that could be made and, after evaluating the recommendations, would provide feedback to employees on his decisions and rationale. Director Halliday also published the Committee’s report on the DPS Intranet for employees to view.
I want to make it clear that AHPA supports the recommendations submitted by the Committee and AHPA will do everything we can to work with leadership to ensure positive change for DPS employee quality of life and morale improvements. Please do not hesitate to contact your Board Representative to provide any input or for any further clarification on AHPA’s efforts.
In addition to AHPA’s support for the Morale Survey Committee’s recommendations, I want to personally thank Chairman Aurelious and the Committee members for their efforts.
I will continue to provide updates regarding the recommendations and AHPA’s work with leadership toward employee quality of life and morale improvements.
Thank you for all of your support.
