Their membership evaluated the gubernatorial candidates for their positions to discover who they thought would best contribute to a safer state and needs of the agency, including staffing, recruitment and officer safety. The association will work with Mr. Ducey to ensure DPS continues to be the premier law enforcement agency in Arizona.
“Being the son of a police officer, Doug Ducey understands the commitment and sacrifice of our DPS employees and their families,” says Sgt. Jimmy Chavez, President of the AHPA. “He will look out for us and ensure that public safety is a top priority.”
“This is about public safety and not partisan politics, which is why we are endorsing Doug Ducey as the best candidate to lead our state,” adds Chavez.
