Papa Murphy’s Pizza To Collect Stuffed Toys Across Arizona
Arizona Highway Patrol Association (AHPA) kicks off their annual Comfort Bear Toy Drive beginning April 1 through 30 in partnership with Arizona Papa Murphy’s Pizza locations in the Phoenix and Yuma metropolitan areas.
Designed to collect stuffed toys to help console children impacted by tragedy, the AHPA is urging those willing to help to drop off a new stuffed animal at any participating Phoenix or Yuma Papa Murphy’s Pizza location.
This is the second year that Papa Murphy’s locations across the state have teamed up with the AHPA for this impactful bear drive. Last year over 1500 bears were collected.
“Children can at times feel intimidated or even scared by an officer in uniform,” said Sgt. Jimmy Chavez, president of AHPA. “A Comfort Bear can serve as a communication mechanism to put a child at ease and let them know that officers will always be there to help. The public’s support for our program is greatly appreciated.”
AHPA is collecting donations of new stuffed animals, nicknamed “Comfort Bears,” to help with children impacted by trauma. These stuffed toys are distributed to law enforcement personnel throughout the state to provide comfort to children during a crisis.
Comfort Bears are kept in the trunks of law enforcement vehicles for immediate use after a traumatic situation.
Papa Murphy’s Pizza locations are offering $5 dollars off any family sized pizza for every new stuffed toy dropped off at a participating Valley location beginning April 1 through April 30 (limit one per household).
“We are honored to assist the Arizona Highway Patrol with this effort again,” said Arizona Papa Murphy’s Pizza franchise owner Ed Holmes. “Giving back to our community is an important piece of owning a franchise—it’s the right thing to do and we look forward to increasing our impact by collecting more bears this year.”
