Arizona CapitolAs most of you know, Governor Janice Brewer introduced her 2014-1015 state budget proposal in late January. (Read Governor Brewer’s budget proposal here: http://azgovernor.gov/dms/upload/PR_011813_Budget.pdf) After clarification and further information, AHPA learned that the budge proposal did not include the salary adjustment requested by the agency back in October. That request was for $10.8 million per year for the next 5 fiscal years. While the AHPA supported the agency’s request, we thought a more condensed time frame of 2 or 3 years was a better alternative to keep agency competitive.  In any case, the Governor’s budget did not include any appropriations for pay for DPS employees. The association sent this letter (AHPA Budget FY14 Letter to Governor) to Governor Brewer’s office on your behalf. AHPA is advocating hard for YOU for a pay increase. Look for further communication on how you can help in the next few weeks. Be sure to check out our website for updates and AHPA’s pay parity studies from the last few years.
