ARLINGTON, Mass. — Three men were arrested on drug charges after police seized cash and drugs shortly after an alleged road rage incident.
Arlington police were called by Chelsea police around 10 p.m. Saturday for a report of a road rage incident in Chelsea involving a possible firearm, Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan said.
The vehicle involved, a gray 2010 Honda CRV, was spotted in Arlington and stopped by police. Three men were inside.
Arlington police searched the vehicle and found a red backpack. Officers found $25,000 in cash, 12 ounces of marijuana wrapped in packages and drug paraphernalia, police said.
The men, identified as 23-year-old Jaylon Butler; 23-year-old Malachi Barnett; and 24-year-old Branden Taylor, all of Everett; were arrested and charged with marijuana possession with intent to distribute.
Butler was also charged with unlicensed driving.
No gun was found inside the vehicle. Chelsea police continue to investigate the alleged road rage incident.
“This case is an example of many moving parts coming together to affect the proper outcome. All within a span of 25 minutes, two municipal law enforcement agencies, a few miles apart, communicated effectively about a dangerous incident that had just occurred, and officers were able to determine the likely location of the suspects through solid detective work,” Ryan said. “As a result, three suspects are in custody, drugs have been found, and the profits from alleged drug dealing have been seized.”
All three men will be arraigned Tuesday in Cambridge District Court.
