The June 2008 meeting was called to order at 1000 hours by Southern Vice-President Celina Murrieta-Gonzales at the Prescott Resort & Conference Center located at 1500 Highway 69, Prescott, Arizona.  Vice-President Celina Murrieta-Gonzales began the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mrs. Joan Rockwell, mother of Diane Plein, Human Resources, passed away on June 6th.

Retired employee Keith (Pete) Brewer #2713 passed away on June 12th.

This year 47 Police Officers have died in the line of duty.  Ten Officers have died since the last meeting.

Dave Schroder advised the Board that the $20.00 bill found on the side of the road was counterfeit.

DONATIONS:

Ramsey Beckstead – $100.00 for (Don Beckstead’s roadside marker) or others as needed.

Dave Schroder passed out to the Board the 2008-2009 Association Budget.  Projected revenues were $ 754,641.00. Projected expenses were $ 717,520.00.   Net income was projected at $ 37,121.00.  Motion was made to accept the projected budget.  Motion carried.

LEGISLATIVE REPORT:

Vice-President Celina Murrieta-Gonzales reported to the Board that bill #2116 & #1407, both dealing with moving dispatchers into CORP, were signed by the Governor.

MERCHANDISE REPORT:

Tim Kvochick addressed the Board on several items:

1) New polo shirts, in black, blue, & tan are in, price is $30.00.

2) New watches are in, price $40.00

3) Limited amount of golf towels, price $15.00

Tim showed the Board two types of briefcases for feedback.

GUEST SPEAKER: FRANK SHANKWITZ

Make-a-Wish started in 1980 by this Association.  Since then there have been 3,500 wishes granted in Arizona, 168,000 wishes granted worldwide.  Last year’s wish, Clint Wilson is having a bone marrow transplant on July 2nd.  Last year the Association gave $6,500.00 towards the wish, and Frank asked that the Association again give the same amount this year.  Motion made by Dave Schroder, 2nd by Bert Chaney.  Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Website Committee: Members Only section on the website will be removed.

Membership Committee: Flyer was handed out for the Board to make corrections.  Dave Schroder made a motion to have 5000 printed.  Motion carried.

By-Law Committee: New By-Laws were passed out to Board members.

OLD BUSINESS:

Dave Schroder advised the Board on printing our own membership cards.  The vendor we use now only prints cards once a year.  By purchasing our own equipment, we can provide cards to new members the next day.  Cost of the equipment/software was quoted as being $2,300.00.  After the initial set-up cost, cards can be produced at a cost of $0.50 each.  Motion made by Pat Eagan, 2nd by Becky Smith to purchase equipment.  Motion carried.

LEGAL REPORT:

Greg Robinson reported that former Association President Andy Swann has obtained enough signatures to place his name on the ballot.
