The July 2009 Board of Directors & AHPA Charities Meeting was called to order at 0900 hours by Southern Vice President Celina Murrieta-Gonzales at the Phoenix Mountain Preserve & Conference center located at 1431 East Dunlap, Phoenix, Arizona.  Vice -President Celina Murrieta-Gonzales began the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Dave Schroder advised the Board of the cost breakdown for the 2009 Officer Memorial Ceremony.  Total cost for the ceremony at the Headquarters building was $ 3,074.55.  Survivor’s luncheon cost was $ 2,328.40.  Cost of sending Bruce Harolle’s wife Angela and children to Washington D.C. for National Police Week was $ 2,676.66.  The two escorts for Angela was $ 4,351.60  The total amount spent on all three functions $ 12,431.21.

OLD BUSINESS:

Dave Schroder advised the Board that the jeweler has received 23 rings from the casting company and is in the process of attaching the ring heads to the rings. When that has been completed the stones will be set in the rings.  Dave is hoping to have the rings to present at the August meeting.

Mike Sloneker advised the Board that the employee survey is being conducted.  309 people have taken the survey. Time line for completion is the end of August.

LEGAL COUNSEL REPORT: Greg Robinson

Greg Robinson reported to the Board on several issues:

1)  Revised the Department’s Museum contract.

2)  Working on personnel file protection policy

GUEST SPEAKER: Steve Pomerantz (Phoenix Coyotes)

1)   Presented 2 shirts and 2 watches to the Board for raffle prizes.

1)    sold 115 tickets, donated 90 tickets to the Boy’s

& Girls clubs

REQUEST FOR FUNDING:

Kevin McNichols made a motion to fund $313.00 towards the purchase of a firearm for a donation prize for the Arizona Homicide Investigators conference being held in Las Vegas.  Motion seconded by Pat Eagan.     Motion Carried

Jim Bee made a motion to have the Association buy 1000 plastic badges with the AHPA name & junior officer.  Motion 2nd by Pat Eagan.  Motion Carried
