Phoenix — The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) has allocated $181,901 for the purchase of four specially equipped patrol vehicles for the Department’s Highway Patrol Division.
The vehicles will be utilized during patrol shifts, holiday enforcement, and DUI enforcement operations funded by GOHS to target speeding, impaired, and reckless drivers.
The vehicles will help in DPS’ continuing mission of protecting human life by working to keep impaired and reckless drivers off the roads.
“The DPS recognizes impaired drivers pose a significant danger to the safety of all people traveling on Arizona’s roadways. The Highway Patrol Division prioritizes identifying and arresting impaired and other dangerous drivers. The GOHS and the DPS continue a strong partnership and common goal of reducing the loss of life, occurrence of injuries, and economic impact impaired drivers have on our communities. Director Gutier’s continued support through grant funding provides equipment to troopers throughout the state further advancing public safety initiatives,” said Lt. Colonel Wayde Webb, Assistant Director.
