Phoenix, AZ — The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has awarded the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) a $10,000.00 grant to fund overtime and other expenses for the upcoming Buckle Up Arizona Enforcement Campaign. The two-week campaign will begin on Monday, May 20 and will concluded on Sunday, June 2, 2019.
So far in 2019, troopers have investigated 127 fatal crashes on Arizona Highways. Of those crashes, 45 people have died because of the lack of use of a restraint device.
“AZDPS is very grateful to have been awarded this grant and for the continued support from Director Alberto Gutier of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). Both AZDPS and GOHS understand the importance on educating the motoring public on the need to wear a seatbelt at all times,” said Colonel Frank Milstead, AZDPS Director.
