COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A man accused of shooting at a Georgia officer was caught Tuesday morning.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the officer confronted the man on Monday while investigating an incident in a nearby neighborhood.

“He actually recognized the suspect and was attempting to interrogate him or question him about that previous incident when the suspect actually pulled a gun and fired on him,” police spokesman Sgt. Wayne Delk told reporters at the scene.

The man ran from the officer after the officer returned fire. The officer was not hurt.

SWAT locked down the neighborhood overnight to search for the man, but called off the search early Tuesday morning. Four hours later, the man was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was arrested and transported to a local hospital, but his condition is unknown. Police are investigating when and how the suspect was wounded.
