NICEVILLE, Fla. — A 23-year-old man was charged with battery on an officer and resisting an officer with violence after an officer tried to get him medical attention.
A Niceville police officer was called to an apartment about someone trespassing. When he got there, he discovered that the man was not trespassing but lived there.
The man was swaying from side to side and could not answer simple questions or tell the officer his full name. The officer requested emergency medical services to check on the man’s health since he appeared to be extremely intoxicated.
The officer told the man to sit down, but the man pushed him instead. The officer asked him not to do that, but he pushed him again. The officer tried to handcuff the man but he kept resisting.
The officer was able to gain control while another officer aimed his Taser at the man. The man, although handcuffed, pulled and pushed against the officer.
EMS said the man didn’t need to go to the hospital, so he was taken to the Niceville Police Department where he continued to fight the officers.
