According to CBS News, some of the key “undecided” Senators with “swing votes” in the confirmation hearings for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh are being escorted by police as they go to and from their daily meetings and activities.
Police have also increased their presence in the Capitol building itself, CBS News reported.
Hundreds of protesters have been arrested during the proceedings. An estimated 3,000 protesters gathered at the Capitol building on Thursday, holding signs and chanting.
Kavanaugh has been accused by Christine Blasey Ford of sexual assault at a party when they were teenagers.
Kavanaugh denies the claim and is awaiting a Senate vote on his nomination.
