17th Annual Memorial Mile Clean Up

The annual Bob Martin Memorial Highway Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday February 16, 2013. The event commemorates Department of Public Safety Officer Robert K. Martin #474 who gave his life in the line of duty on August 15, 1995. Officer Martin had conducted a traffic stop southbound on State Route 87 at milepost 195 when he was fatally shot. The event also commemorates the life and service of the late Department of Public Safety Lieutenant Mark Brown #1437.
Participants will meet in the east parking lot of the Fort McDowell Casino at 9:00 AM. A shuttle will be available for transport to milepost 196, the Mark Brown Mile, where we will start at 10:00 hours. It is recommended that you wear long pants and footwear appropriate for walking in heavy brush. You may want to bring a pick-up stick or gloves for gathering trash as well as sunscreen. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
