MORRILTON, Ark. — An Arkansas SRO has turned to singing to reach out to kids.

KATV reports that Morrilton Officer Phil Blaylock turned his patrol car into a karaoke studio, which he calls “Cop Car Karaoke,” to strengthen community ties with children. Blaylock records the sessions and posts them to Facebook.

Blaylock told KARK that the karaoke has helped him connect with students. He said that he and the kids sing songs from different genres, from country music to old disco songs.

Recently, he and 6-year-old Madison Wilson sang Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You,” and he let her take it away during the chorus.

Blaylock has also hosted fellow officers such as viral star Officer Tommy Norman, who’s community policing efforts gained national attention. The two sang Justin Bieber’s 2010 hit “Baby.”

Blaylock’s outreach efforts have made children see the officer as a role model and someone they can talk to.

“I like to know, they know where I stand as a police officer,” Blaylock said. “I want them to know where other school resource officers stand.”

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); = id; js.src = ‘’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Happy Sunday and Hope everyone is enjoying their spring break. This week’s special and talented student is one of the youngest student we’ve had on a #copcarkaraoke video??.
