Two Bremerton, WA, officers were shot and a 53-year-old suspect was killed early Sunday after officers contacted him about a domestic violence protection order.
Preliminary information indicates that the incident started when officers attempted to contact a man at 1:16 AM in a parking lot in Lions Park. Â The suspect was in an SUV and was believed to have violated the court-issued domestic violence protection order.
Initial reports are that the man immediately began firing numerous shots directly at both officers. Â One officer was struck with at least two rounds in the abdomen and the other officer was struck in the waist. Â Officers returned fire and the suspect was killed.
Both officers were taken to the hospital. Their condition has not been released, KIRO TV reports.
