Officers responded to a call of a possible kidnapping in progress in the early morning hours on Wednesday. Upon arrival to the scene, they quickly came into contact with the suspect vehicle.
According to ABC News, the suspect started shooting, striking one officer. The officers returned fire, striking the suspect.
One officer was struck by gunfire and later airlifted to a trauma center. Talladega Police say he is expected to recover. Another officer was also injured, not by gunfire, and transported to a local hospital.
Police say the suspect and a second person in the vehicle are dead.
