\n \n \n \n \n \n There will be a $20.00 per team late fee for teams registering after the March 8th\, 2019 deadline. \nAll Arizona Game and Fish regulations will be adhered to. Any legal bait is acceptable. \nELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS\nEach team may have a maximum of three fishermen. Children 15 years of age and under may fish as a third member of the team free of entry fees. Boat and bank fishermen will be treated the same. Any person who is an AZTroopers member or associate is eligible to fish the tournament. At least one member of the team must be an AZTroopers member or associate member. \nINELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS\nAny person\, who has paid $150.00 or more to enter a fishing contest\, is a fishing guide and is not an AZTroopers member or associate member is ineligible to fish the tournament. The committee will rule on any questionable entry. The slot limit on Alamo Lake was lifted January 2013. A maximum of 6 fish may be weighed per team per day. Bass caught on the first day of the tournament cannot be weighed on the second day of the tournament. \nConflicts regarding the weights of a stringer of fish will be settled by the Tournament Committee. Ties will be settled by biggest bass. The Tournament Committee may inspect any teams live-well or stringer at any time. \nRULE CHANGES\n1. Tapia was shot on Monday\, Jan. 6\, 1991 by an 18-year-old drug runner whom Tapia had pulled over on N. Grand Avenue while working on a surveillance operation as head of the Santa Cruz County Attorney’s Metro Task Force. He suspected the car was loaded with marijuana and ordered the driver\, Noel Bernal Gonzalez\, to get out of the car and open the trunk. \n\n\nBernal fumbled with the keys and struggled to open the trunk. Suddenly he bolted\, turned around and fired an unknown amount of shots from a pistol he pulled from his waistband\, striking Tapia in the abdomen and arm. Another officer who had responded to the call shot and killed Bernal. \n\n\nTapia\, the father of three young children\, died in surgery at a Tucson hospital at 1:45 a.m. the next morning. \n\n\nBorn in Agua Prieta\, Sonora\, Tapia grew up in the Bowie\, Ariz. area. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam\, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. He joined DPS in 1973 and in 1984 earned his sergeant stripes. He also earned the respect and admiration of others in and outside law enforcement\, as evidenced by the throngs of lawmen\, family\, friends and dignitaries who attended his funeral in Tucson. The convoy from Nogales alone comprised 30 vehicles. \n\nAt the time of the shooting Tapia lived in Tumacacori. The American Youth Soccer Organization and Little League coach had built up a reputation as the cog for mutual cooperation and collaboration among area law enforcement agencies at the local\, state and federal level. The job at Metro positioned him to exploit his skill as a consensus builder. \n\n\nRudy Camacho\, who was director of inspections and control for U.S. Customs\, said upon Tapia’s death\, “He was a bonding-type of person. Unlike bureaucrats\, when Manny told you he would work with your agency\, he would follow through. If Manny said so\, it was good as done. It wasn’t just a lot of lip service. At our tournament\, we honor each and every fallen officer through the dedication of a corporate hole sponsor in their memory. AZTroopers works throughout the state supporting and promoting safety programs and charitable events such as the Law Enforcement Memorial Program\, MADD\, Concerns of Police Survivors\, Special Olympics and Seat Belt Safety programs. The AZTroopers Memorial Golf Classic also awards annual college scholarships in honor of our fallen officers. We provide support to many public safety programs throughout Arizona and take pride in our representation at memorial services in honor of law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.\nThe tournament is a four-person scramble event. There will be three flights and handicaps will only be used to determine which flight your team will play in. Players without an established handicap will estimate what they normally score\, so be honest. This is for fun. This dynamic training and friendly competition is open to all currently certified motorcycle officers. The host hotel for this year’s event will be the Sheraton Crescent Hotel located at 2620 West Dunlap Avenue in Phoenix. The Sheraton Crescent has provided our guests with the discounted room rate of $130 per night (including full hot buffet breakfast) or $119 per night (excluding breakfast)\, plus tax. There is a March 11\, 2018 deadline for hotel reservations to receive this discount. \n \n \n \n \n \n There will be a $20.00 per team late fee for teams registering after the March 2nd\, 2018 deadline. \nAll Arizona Game and Fish regulations will be adhered to. Any legal bait is acceptable. \nELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS\nEach team may have a maximum of three fishermen. Children 15 years of age and under may fish as a third member of the team free of entry fees. Boat and bank fishermen will be treated the same. Any person who is an AZTroopers member or associate is eligible to fish the tournament. At least one member of the team must be an AZTroopers member or associate member. \nINELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS\nAny person\, who has paid $150.00 or more to enter a fishing contest\, is a fishing guide and is not an AZTroopers member or associate member is ineligible to fish the tournament. The committee will rule on any questionable entry. The slot limit on Alamo Lake was lifted January 2013. A maximum of 6 fish may be weighed per team per day. Bass caught on the first day of the tournament cannot be weighed on the second day of the tournament. \nConflicts regarding the weights of a stringer of fish will be settled by the Tournament Committee. Ties will be settled by biggest bass. The Tournament Committee may inspect any teams live-well or stringer at any time. \nRULE CHANGES\n1. Pre-fishing will be allowed through Wednesday April 11\, 2018. All boats must be off the water 30 minutes after sunset. No fishing after sunset. \n2.
